Rustic French Bread for Turkey Day

So I'm stuck on the bread thing currently.  I'm starting to play with some rustic or traditional recipes first.  I think after this I will try a few boule recipes.  But for now here's my attempt at making a traditional french bread.

Here's the link for the recipe I used.  It's very simple.

Here the dough is resting.

After about three hours and the second rising of the dough I formed it into the baguette shapes.

Kaili finally approves of the shape  of the baguette!
They're finally covered again.  I'll update later once they've risen right before they go in the oven and the finished product of course.

I noticed the loaves sort of flatten out so I can see how a hand pan with the little french bread walls built in would be perfect for making this style of bread.

Here's the final product.

It was quite delicious.  Crusty and chewy on the outside but soft on the inside.  I would definitely make this again.  Next time I'll make sure there's a bottle of wine near by.   If there's anything left in a couple days, that will likely become croutons.
